Well-known high-quality professional computer display manufacturer, Japanese company Iiyama has just launched a new office display with a more affordable price and a classic TN-film LCD panel. Like we reported here, Iiyama is heavily involved into the energy efficiency trend and today’s product also uses LED backlighting that allows for much lower power consumption.

The monitor launched by Iiyama today is called ProLite E2278HD and features a FullHD 1920 by 1080 pixel resolution.

The real contrast value is a mediocre 1,000 to 1, that in dynamic mode can reach values up to 5 million to 1.

Iiyama claims that a 53% power consumption reduction is achieved by using LED backlighting, and the average brightness is rated at 250 cd/sqm.

The monitor only features two inputs in the back: a DVI-D connector with HDCP compatibility and a classic VGA D-SUB 15 port.

Pricing information has not been made available yet, but we expect Iiyama’s new E2278HD-GB1 model to be much more affordable than IPS monitors that are being announced by most manufacturers today, and also than VA monitors.
