Iggy ruled the charts with “Fancy” and has been basically everywhere since the release of the “Ignorant Art” mixtape. Before she broke on the scene though, she was trying to make an impression as a Britney Spears copycat.
Fans have an unearthed a video from Iggy from before her big 2011 break: it’s called “Nothing like Me” and it looks just like Britney’s “Toxic.” That alone would be a compliment, so let’s move on to the bad news: it sounds worse than anything Britney has ever put her name to.
Word online has it that the video must have been shot sometime between 2006, when Iggy moved to the US, and 2010, before she decided that pop music wasn’t her “thing” so she’d try rap instead. You will find it embedded below: the second video is a clean version of “Fancy,” to compare.
It’s not a secret that breaking into the industry requires a lot of compromises and sacrifices, but even in this context, fans are surprised that Iggy would have a pop past that she never told them about. Then again, anyone in their right mind would probably want to keep secret the existence of a song as bad as this one.
