14 DAY TRIAL // Iggy Azalea has had a very busy month: she canceled a tour, dropped out of a major scheduled appearance and got engaged on her boyfriend’s surprise birthday party. Word has it that she may have another surprise to announce to her fans because she’s pregnant with her first child.
The bad news is, according to a report in OK! Magazine, that her boyfriend-now-fiancé, LA Lakers player Nick Young, wants a “traditional wife,” and as such, he’s pressuring her into putting her career on the back burner.
“He wants her to scale back on work”
According to unnamed sources close to the rapper, Nick told her from the start that, if they were ever to marry, he expected her to dedicate more of her time to the family instead of her work. He wasn’t in the market for a modern wife, the kind that has her own career and divides the rest of her time between her man and the kids: he wanted a “traditional” wife.
With the surprise engagement and then the cancelation announcements, friends are now thinking that Nick’s “traditional” views might have rushed the proposal, because Iggy is pregnant.
“Her friends are buzzing that the real reason for the cancellation and the engagement is that Iggy’s pregnant,” says a spy. Iggy also stopped drinking alcohol altogether recently, which must mean she’s getting ready to become a “stay-at-home” mom.
“Nick wants a traditional wife, who lives to cook and be home to attend to the family’s needs,” the insider continues, adding that Iggy is ok with that and will do as Nick tells her.
A canceled tour, much drama
Iggy was supposed to hit the road with The Great Escape Tour in the first half of 2015, but as the start date was drawing near, rumors emerged that organizers weren’t convinced she could fill out the venues because she wasn’t doing enough promotion for it.
It was eventually pushed back several months, but talk of trouble persisted. Apparently, Iggy had cut off her own people and wasn’t at all cooperative about making her own tour a success.
Then came the cancelation and, with the announcement, Iggy’s version of the events. As she sees it, she’s been working very hard for the past couple of years and hitting the road with a tour would mean even more work and time away from the recording studio.
She feels like she can’t do a tour and do it right, so she’d rather it happened later but to her high standards of quality than now, and be of inferior quality.
Iggy says she needs some time off for herself, which, if you put into the context of the above story, could very well mean that she’s taking a break to start a family.
Assuming she really is pregnant, we’ll find out for certain soon enough.
