The developer says this distribution can replace Windows 8 and Mac OS X

aLinux, a distribution based on GNU/Linux that aims to replace Microsoft Windows 8 XP/Vista and Apple Mac OS X, is now at version 17.0 Beta 3.

aLinux 1.7.0 Beta 3 is based on KDE and features a lot of preinstalled packages, such as GCC, Pidgin, Kwrite, GLIBC, 11 games, GIMP, KView Image Browser, Clam-AV AntiVirus, and more.

Highlights of aLinux 17.0 Beta 3:

• A problem with some USB hardware that were not being detected during the initial "Install" or in "Live!" mode, has been fixed; • The distribution now gives more time to SCSI devices, such as USB pendrives and CD/DVDs, to initialize; • Three missing applications, used for decoding and playing DVD media, have been added.
