The 1.0 version of this Linux distro is almost here

Q4OS is a Linux distribution built to offer users an experience similar to the one they would get from a Windows system. The devs have been making quite a few improvements and they are rapidly approaching version 1.0.

Most Linux users don't want to see a Windows lookalike in front of their eyes, but there is a small community of users that don't have anything against the design decisions in Microsoft's OS. Some former Windows users might even relish the opportunity to switch to a Linux system, but not drift too far from the interface they know and love.

It's possible to get your Linux system to look like a Windows one pretty easily, by installing some themes, some icons, and by making certain clever modifications to the operating system. It's not difficult, but it's usually done just to prove that it's doable. Q4OS takes this to another level by implementing this "look" with the help of the desktop environment, which is a much deeper approach.

The developers have been pushing a lot of updates lately and it looks like they are pretty much done with the new features, with one exception, which only leaves some bugs to be corrected in time for the release.

"The main purpose of this release is to fix 'unetbootin' weighty issue. Some Q4OS USB installation media created with unetbootin utility didn't correctly extract all the archives and packages. It is now fixed as well as several other bugs. We prepare new 'Desktop Profiler' tool for one of next Q4OS releases. 'Desktop Profiler' will enable one-click installation of different applications sets, it will help users to configure the Q4OS computer an easy and quick way," is noted in the official announcement.

You can download Q4OS 0.5.26 right now from Softpedia and you can find more details about this new version of the operating system in the official announcement.
