Evacuations are still in place in Riverside County

Homes have been destroyed and communities have been evacuated after a mountain fire hit Riverside County in California, scorching the Idyllwild area and its surroundings.

As I mentioned earlier, Fern Valley, Idyllwild, the U.S. Forest Service Campgrounds, the U.S. Forest Service Wilderness and the Mt. San Jacinto State Park have been evacuated.

NBC Los Angeles writes that the ash is posing health risks as far away as in Palm Springs. Thousands of fire fighters have been brought in to fight the flames, in an operation that has cost the state $4 million (€3 million) so far.

Posted above is a photo of one of six homes completely scorched in the mountainous area, as relayed by SCPR.

Below you can watch the extent of the blaze. The amateur video maker capturing the footage describes the scene as apocalyptic.
