A fire in the mountainous area near Idyllwild in California is spreading towards Palm Springs. According to the Christian Post, it is now just a few miles away.

The blaze is believed to have started 12 miles (19.3 km) from Palm Springs. Since I last reported on the advancement of the wildfire, it has spread over 23,000 acres (9,300 hectares).

"Up on the ridge, you're seeing 40 to 60-foot (12 - 18-meter) flame lengths. And when you have flame lengths that large, the crews can't engage directly on the fire because the intensity is just too high," analyst in behaviors of wildfires Dennis Burns says.

Experts believe that the flame will not be put out in the next few days, as temperatures will not be under near 100 degrees F (38 C).
