By now, we’ve all pretty much understood that many of the celebrities who do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge do it not because they’re really dedicated to helping with a good cause, but just because it’s the “hip” thing to do and it translates into instant media attention. The same goes for regular Janes and Johns, many of whom don’t even know what ALS is.

It’s a crippling, very painful disease, and the ALS Association is trying to raise money to find a cure for it, which is how the Ice Bucket Challenge came to happen. Once you’re nominated by a friend for it, you either donate money within 24 hours, or you pour a bucket of ice water down your head, to briefly experience what people with ALS suffer on a regular basis.

I can’t tell if Idris knows what ALS is or whether he donated money for the cause, but I find it somehow embarrassing that he went down the same route as Lindsay Lohan and did the Challenge on a TV show. While he was there to promote a new movie.

Lohan is excused for such behavior because no one expects any better of her, but with Idris, many fans do – expect better, that is.

Before I’ll leave you to watch the interview in full, I will say something nice about him: he’s gorgeous and funny, and looks amazing in a suit, even when he’s dripping wet.
