Some time ago, Jamie Foxx said it was about time the James Bond franchise got a black 007, and he expressed his availability to play him. According to Bond girl Naomie Harris, the role might go to Idris Elba.

Speaking with The Huffington Post on the occasion of the London premiere of “Skyfall,” the latest installment in the franchise, Harris revealed knowledge of negotiations to have Elba replace Daniel Craig once his contract is up.

“I didn’t realize that there was this talk and then I did a film with Idris [Elba] and he said that he met Barbara Broccoli [James Bond producer] and that it does seem like there is a possibility in the future that there could very well be a black James Bond,” she says.

As a plus, Elba is from London as well.

Of course, even assuming all this is accurate, Idris will still have to wait for many years for it to happen: reports online say Craig is locked in his contract for at least two more James Bond movies after “Skyfall.”
