Yet another HDD enclosure has appeared, one that promises to house any 2.5-inc or 3.5-inch SATA hard drive, establish the connection to PCs and protect the unit during transportation. Icy Dock is the company that brought forward the new product, whose name is MB559U3S-1S.
It comes with USB 3.0 + eSATA combo connectivity, which means it can communicate with both PCs and Apple Mac systems.
For convenience, it is Plug & Play-ready, lacks active cooling, has a built-in security slot (for a security cable kit) and an expandable foot stand, for vertical placement.
Icy Dock didn't give a price for the
MB559U3S-1S, but it did say that, whenever sales begin, there will be a black version too (
MB559U3S-1SB), not just a white one.
The target customers are those in government agencies, military, law enforcement, audio editing, IT, etc.
