With Yahoo's troubles these days, it's hard to remember that it was once the hottest thing in Silicon Valley, a company on the way up. The dot com era was filled with rising stars, some long gone, but Yahoo stood out.It was during this time that it put up one of the most iconic billboards in San Francisco and certainly one Yahoo's best, or at least most enduring, piece of advertising to date.
The billboard had a very old school look, imitating the ones found on motels and similar places across the US, in contrast to the high-tech image of most web companies.
In keeping with the times, perhaps and unfortunately, the billboard is going
down in a couple of weeks, after 12 years of faithful service.
