74-year-old actor was suffering from mesothelioma, his rep confirms

Ed Lauter, one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood, has died. He was 74 years old and, according to his publicist, he was suffering from a rare form of cancer.

“According to his rep, Lauter died on Wednesday after battling mesothelioma – a rare form of cancer often caused by exposure to asbestos,” TMZ reports.

Lauter was married four times and is survived by four children. He continued to work until the final months of his life, completing work on various projects.

The actor’s career spanned 4 decades and included notable appearances in both film and television, hence his status as one of the most recognizable faces in showbiz.
