At first look, these images might seem surreal and can be easily mistaken for paintings

Nature never ceases to amazes us, and from time to time we get to admire amazing photo galleries picturing its most amazing creations in an almost surreal light.

This is the case of Russian photographer Andre Ermolaev's ongoing series that showcase some of nature's most beautiful places, the volcanic rivers in Iceland, from an amazing aerial perspective.

At first glance, these photos seem surreal and closer to abstract paintings than picturing rivers and glaciers from Iceland's gorgeous landscape. The vibrant colors and incredible light/shadow contrast makes you want to take a closer look and carefully analyze each texture and shape in the photo.

"Iceland is a wonderful country; I would even say that it is a true paradise for all the photo shooting-lovers. But what has become a real discovery for me is the bird’s eye view of the rivers flowing along the black volcanic sand. It is an inexpressible combination of colors, lines, and patterns," says Ermolaev.

If you want to see the whole photo gallery you should check out Andre Ermolaev's website.
