IceCat 9.0.1, an Internet Browser based on Mozilla Firefox 9.0.1, has just been announced by its developer, Giuseppe Scrivano.

The fact that GNU IceCat is based on Mozilla Firefox means that every modification and feature in the later is automatically transposed in this one, Therefore, GNU IceCat features:

· Added Type Inference, radically improving the JavaScript performance;
· Do Not Track status can now be queried via JavaScript;
· font-stretch support was added;
· text-overflow support was improved;
· HTML5, CSS, and MathML support was improved;
· Various stability issues were fixed.

The goal of the GNU IceCat project is to provide a completely free version of the popular Mozilla Firefox web browser. IceCat is part of Gnuzilla, the umbrella project analogous to Mozilla.
