The long awaited Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system upgrade for the DROID Bionic smartphone on Verizon Wireless’ network.

The wireless carrier started to push the update out to devices late last week, when it announced its deployment in stages.

According to the latest reports on the matter, however, the update should already be available for all DROID Bionic units out there.

Users will receive a notification on the update’s arrival, but they can also check manually to learn whether it has been made available for their handsets or not.

For that, they would simply have to go to Settings > About phone > System updates. Before proceeding with the installation of Ice Cream Sandwich, they should make sure that all data on the device has been backed up and that the battery inside it is at least half full.
