About two weeks ago, Samsung started to push out the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software update for its Galaxy S II smartphones around the world. The company also promised the update for a series of other Galaxy S II models available in various markets around the world, including the Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket that is available for purchase on the airwaves of AT&T at the moment.

No official word on when the update would be delivered to users arrived from either Samsung or the wireless carrier, but it appears that users can already get a taste of the OS, courtesy of a leaked ROM.

Dated March 14th, the new Ice Cream Sandwich ROM for the Galaxy S II Skyrocket made an appearance over at RootzWiki.

Some of those who took a close look at the software claim that the build.prop shows it as being an official build for the smartphone, although there is no official confirmation on this.

ro.build.description=SGH-I727-user 4.0.3 IML74K 107 release-keys ro.build.fingerprint=samsung/SGH-I727/SGH-I727:4.0.3/IML74K/107:user/release-keys ro.build.characteristics=default

The entire build.prop was already made available online, and those who would like to have a look at it should go to this page for that.

Owners of Windows-powered computers can now download and install the software on their devices through Odin.

No installation method is available for Mac and Linux users at the moment, but it appears that one will be delivered in the near future.

As stated above, the ROM emerged over on RootzWiki. All those who would like to take it for a spin should head over there for that.

Before getting started with that, however, users should keep in mind that this is not an official release, and that its installation might harm their devices. The installation of this ROM will void warranty, and it might also result in the phone being bricked.

Users should also consider backing up all data on the device, to make sure that no important files are lost.
