Australian mobile phone carrier Vodafone has announced today that Samsung’s largest smartphone, Galaxy Note, is set to receive an update to Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich starting tomorrow.

The new software will be rolled out to users beginning with 1:00pm, August 7th, 2012, as part of a staged process.

This means that not all users will receive the update at the same time, although it will reach all of them in the not too distant future.

“Samsung will begin rolling out the Android Ice Cream Sandwich platform upgrade for GALAXY Note handsets sold by Vodafone in Australia,” the wireless carrier announced.

“This is a platform upgrade and will introduce a number of new features and enhancements. Some menu items have moved and the user interface has been refreshed.”

Vodafone also unveiled that the new software would be sent to users both over-the-air and via Samsung’s desktop application, Kies.

Last week, Vodafone announced that the Android 4.0.4 update to the Samsung Galaxy Note (N7000B) had been approved for deployment after a few rounds of testing in its laboratories.

However, the software is not being sent out from Vodafone themselves, but from phone’s maker, Samsung.

At the moment, Galaxy Note runs under Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread and is set to taste enhancements to the exclusive applications that Samsung has packed it with as well.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Samsung designed this device with exclusive capabilities that take advantage of S Pen, a stylus that comes along with the phone.

The update should bring along S Note, an update of S Memo, and My Story apps designed specifically to go along with the S Pen, all of which have been included in a so-called Premium Suite.
