The handset could become reality in the not too distant future

Sony Ericsson has already confirmed plans to make the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich available for its 2011 Xperia lineup, and is also expected to launch new Xperia devices that will support the platform.

Dual-core Android devices from the company should make an appearance this year, if not this week, during the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Nothing has been officially confirmed on the matter as of yet, but enthusiasts will not stop hoping, that’s for sure.

For them, a new concept phone has just emerged, designed to provide them with a taste of what Ice Cream Sandwich on a futuristic Xperia device is all about.

Available from designer Jsus (via Concept-phones), the handset resembles a bit the smartphones that Sony Ericsson has been teasing with lately for a CES 2012 launch.

It features a large touchscreen display on the front, most probably measuring around 4.5-inches diagonally and being capable of delivering a 720p HD resolution.

On the back, the smartphone might very well sport a 12-megapixel photo snapper with support for HD video recording. A 2-megapixel camera should be on the front, meant to provide users with video calling capabilities.

Unfortunately, the designer did not sent over specific info on the handset’s hardware list, and we have no idea on the actual capabilities of this beauty.

One thing that seems to be certain though is the fact that the Sony Ericsson UI has been loaded on top of Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Upgraded flavors of Timescape and Mediascape should be loaded on this device.

Of course, this is only a concept device for the time being, though it might not be too long before an Xperia handset that resembles it will land on shelves. After all, the designer did choose to include into the mix elements that can be found on Sony Ericsson’s latest Android mobile phones.
