A source informs that Ibragim Todashev, the man questioned and killed by the FBI after they identified a connection to Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was not armed at the time.

While initial reports spoke of 27-year-old Todashev having a knife on him, the insider tells Washington Post that it was not the case.

However, the Chechen man did try to attack an FBI officer, launching himself at him from across the table.

The FBI is currently conducting an investigation into the incident, but officials at the Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations are asking for the right to run an independent review of the shooting.

“[A] violent confrontation was initiated by the individual. During the confrontation, the individual was killed and the agent sustained non-life threatening injuries,” a statement released by the Tuesday Wednesday reads.
