The money will be spent on helping out animals, youth and the environment

Throughout these past few weeks, an online competition was intended to help decide which non-profit organization or project should benefit from a $100,000 (€77,013) donation from Chase Community Giving.

The winner: Ian Somerhalder and his green-oriented work.

As sources explain, the Ian Somerhalder Foundation will use this money to help out animals, youth and the environment at the same time.

This is because, as we have previously reported, this actor plans to have animals working closely together with bullied kids and teenagers in an attempt to teach them both how to overcome their fears.

Given the fact that Ian Somerhalder went through some very difficult times while trying to set the basis for his new animal sanctuary, this comes as good news indeed.

However, since the winner of this charity competition was chosen following an online voting campaign, we cannot help but wonder whether Ian Somerhalder's being so popular might not have had a say in his Foundation's getting the money.
