This past Saturday, we reported on how Ian Somerhalder asked that fans join him in attending a community council meeting which was expected to decide the future of the animal sanctuary this celebrity is planning to see become a reality.

Recent news on this topic informs us that the portion of land that Ian Somerhalder wishes to turn into a safe haven for neglected animals is to finally be owned by this celebrity's green-oriented organization.

This is because the man who was planning on turning it into a business park and transfer station agreed to close a deal with said celebrity, and give up on his claims regarding this region.

As was to be expected, Ian Somerhalder is more than overjoyed with respect to how things eventually turned out, and tweeted as follows: “It's a tough decision but it's a valuable lesson for us all. We'll make the community great and animals, youth & the world will benefit. Love, Ian.”

Ecorazzi reports that the Ian Somerhalder Foundation plans to look after not just abused animals, but also after children who found themselves being bullied in school.

More precisely, kids and formerly abused pets will be given the opportunity to interact with one another, in the hope that all will succeed in overcoming various fears they might have developed over the years.

“ISF [Ian Somerhalder Foundation] intends on creating a safe haven for all the outcasted animals that have been neglected, mistreated and ultimately misunderstood,” explain official statements concerning the role of this animal sanctuary.

Furthermore, “Some may see the potential in an abused animal as ending at the animal’s personal rehabilitation. In our eyes, this is just the beginning. What if ISF provided opportunities for these misfit creatures to continue their emotional journey alongside others who were hurting from a life filled with dejection?”

Although Ian Somerhalder and his organization still have to get approval from the zoning board before they can move forth with their plans to set the basis for this animal refuge, it is highly unlikely that anyone will deny them permission to get to work.

More so since this celebrity benefits from the support of countless fans worldwide.
