Android users in the UK will be happy to know that ITV Player has just been updated with support for more devices, as well as performance and stability enhancements.

Developed by ITV PLC, the application allows users to watch all ITV programs for up to 30 days after broadcast. For the time being, it provides access to ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and CITV.

Keep in mind that ITV Player is only available in the UK and some users may be restricted to only viewing TV2, ITV3, ITV4 and CITV programs.

The latest update refreshed the look and feel of the application, as developers have confirmed that they have re-engineered user interface, allowing users to navigate and discover programs much easier.

In addition, the application now provides more robust and reliable video playback and allows users to watch content over both 3G/4G and Wi-Fi.

Last but not least, the update brings support for users on Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean platforms.

ITV Player 2.0 is now available as a free download via Google Play Store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.2 and up. Check it out here.

No it isn't compatible with Android Jellybean! When is ITV going to keep up with BBC's iPlayer?

The above editorial is WRONG. Android Jelly Bean is not supported. Adobe Flash for Jelly Bean is not supported so if used is very unstable and frequently freezes at first adverts. Please hurry up and sort out the Flash-free player currently being trialled by Samsung

"To use this application you need a mobile phone or tablet device that runs Android Gingerbread (2.3+), Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean."

This confirmation comes directly from ITV, so if it's inaccurate it's their fault. I'll keep an eye out on this one and see if any updates are going live in the next few weeks.
