Michael Tremer, developer for ipfire.org team, has announced IPFire 2.11 Core 59, a new stable release of the popular Linux-based firewall distribution.

IPFire 2.11 Core 59 comes only a week after the previous version, bringing some much-needed security updates, like OpenSSL 0.9.8x, PHP 5.3.13, and Python 2.7.3.

Among the bugs fixed in this version, we can mention a DoS issues and hash table collision bug.

Other major changes include OpenSSH server 6.0p1 and strongSwan, which was updated to version 4.6.3.

According to the developers, IPFire does not allow to set the MTU to 576 on RED. There are some cable modems around, with a broken DHCP server that sets the MTU to 576.
