Michael Tremer, developer for ipfire.org team, has announced IPFire 2.11 Core 58, a new stable release of the popular a Linux-based firewall distribution.

IPFire 2.11 Core 58 is only a minor release, covering a few security updates and various changes. The main change in the operating system is about cryptodev which has been ported from BSD, providing the kernel crypto system to the userspace.

Other major changes include improved detection of number of CPUs on ARM devices, OpenVPN update to 2.2.2, the hardware database, GeoIP database and usb_modeswitch database have been updated, ClamAV was updated to 0.97.4, and “pound” was added, which means that IPFire is now able to handle more than one certificate per IP choosing them by their common names or SANs.
