Michael Tremer, developer for ipfire.org team, has announced IPFire 2.11 Core 57, a new stable release of the popular a Linux-based firewall distribution.

IPFire 2.11 Core 57 is only a minor release, covering a few security updates and various changes. The fixes were put in place to address various security issues or potential DDoS attacks: PHP was updated to 5.3.10, Apache was updated to 2.2.22, and Squid is now at version 3.19.

Another miscellaneous fix repaired a bug in the GUI of the outgoing firewall, which automatically disabled a rule after it has been edited.

Also, a few apps were updates in the past weeks: CUPS is now at version 1.4.8, nus was updated to 26.3, and Pound was updated to 2.6.
