IPFire 2.11 Core 55 Fixes OpenSSL Security Issues

Michael Tremer, developer for ipfire.org team, has announced IPFire 2.11 Core 55, a new stable release of the popular a Linux-based firewall distribution.

IPFire 2.11 Core 55 was released immediately after the Core update 54, which brings some changes to network hardware, providing more speed and reliability. Also, the web proxy service has been updated and now consumes less memory.

The "intrusion detection system rules download" is again functional and the hardware status section on the web user interface recognizes more hard drives.

IPFire 2.11 Core 55 update covers six security issues that have been fixed in the OpenSSL package. The developer has recommended that users who already have IPFire 2.11 installed should grab both updates and restart the operating system.
