While some are making new PSUs for the consumer market or getting awards for this or that product, IP Infusion decided to take a more active role in the field of data centers, so it joined the effort to promote Software Defined Networking (SDN).

IP Infusion is an IT player that wants to bring the SDN networking approach to as many data centers as possible.

Software Defined Networking (SDN) provides enhancements as far as managing and controlling data centers goes, as well as better control and overall optimized network behavior.

The Open Networking Foundation is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote SDN, so IP Infusion decided to become a member.

The company will share its knowledge and experience in the area of split-control plane software, so as to “extend the benefits of network flow control abstraction.”

“The goals outlined by the ONF align perfectly with our vision for transforming tomorrow’s communications networks today,” said Koichi Narasaki, president and CEO, IP Infusion.

“Without innovation, new approaches such as cloud computing will never reach their full potential. The foundation supports our goal to create solutions that accelerate innovative solutions for data center networks.”

“We clearly see the value that the ONF will bring to our OEM customers as the organization drives a new generation of standards-based and intelligent networking solutions for service providers and enterprises. Participating in an organization that includes so many other industry leaders will allow us to drive technological advances that will enhance our offerings.”

Moving forward, the ONF will be hard at work on developing the OpenFlow standard and will freely license it to all member companies in order to encourage its adoption.

OpenFlow controls packet forwarding, while a set of global management interfaces will allow more advanced management tools to be built, so as to complement the new standard.
