A new version of the uninstaller comes with several handy features

IObit Uninstaller is an application that provides a more powerful way to uninstall applications, as it includes not only the traditional program removal options, but also dedicated cleaning tools that can remove all leftovers.

Starting with version 4, IObit Uninstaller, still part of the beta development channel, would also come with Windows 8 Metro app support, meaning that those who have already made the move to Microsoft’s modern operating system can uninstall the touch-optimized apps as well.

While removing Windows 8 apps isn’t such a big deal since anyone can do it from the Start screen, using a third-party solution could really come in handy, especially because you can remove more apps at once and you also get an overview over all installed programs.

In addition to Windows 8 Metro app support, IObit Uninstaller 4 beta also comes with a quick uninstall option that removes programs without displaying any new confirmation box to disturb you.

A System Restore Point management option is also available now, thus providing users with better control over their system restore point and enabling them to remove such files whenever they need to free some space on a specific partition.

The leftover scanner has also been improved in version 4, so the Powerful Scan now promises to “clean leftovers thoroughly, quickly, and faultlessly,” as mentioned in the official change log for this build.

IObit Uninstaller 4 beta also improves the ability of detecting and removing malicious plug-ins, even though it’s pretty clear that such an app does not provide the same high level of protection as a dedicated security solution, such as an anti-virus product. And still, it’s good to have it, especially when using more than a single browser on a Windows computer.

Last but not least, IObit Uninstaller 4 beta also comes with better detection and removal for Windows Updates, which is really important given the fact that Microsoft’s patches sometime eat up quite a lot of space on your hard drives.

Needless to say, the application comes with support for all Windows versions on the market, including the old Windows XP, which no longer receives updates and security patches from Microsoft since April. Of course, support for Windows 8.1, in both 32- and 64-bit flavors, is also being offered.

Overall, this new update is at least worth a try, especially since it’s free of charge, so go ahead and download IObit Uninstaller 4 Beta right now to see what’s new.
