As we informed you in a previous article, there seems to be some sort of a wireless USB frenzy going on right now, as an increasing number of manufacturers rush to announce products that extend the Universal Serial Bus' functionality via wireless signals.
And one of the latest companies to join this wireless craze is IOGEAR, who has just announced the certification by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) and FCC of its Wireless USB Hub & Adapter Kit.

This certification is quite important for the company that receives it, as it guarantees the fact that the product in question is backward compatible with wired USB devices and interoperable with future Certified Wireless USB offerings. In addition, FCC certification ensures that the solution will not interfere with surrounding wireless signals.

Unfortunately, the people from IOGEAR provide little or no information regarding their upcoming wireless USB products. All we know is that the wireless solution is integrated with Alereon's PHY Chipset and the Intel Wireless UWB Link controller, both of which completed compliance and certification testing from the USB-IF and are designated Certified Wireless USB building block solutions. However, it's very likely that IOGEAR's wireless USB system will provide more or less the same functionality as the other similar devices available on the market, and at pretty much the same price ranges.

And since there are no supplementary details available on the subject, I'll just have to end this article by informing you what Sampson Yang, CEO of IOGEAR, had to say about this latest development. "IOGEAR is once again leading the industry by being among the first companies in the world to integrate Certified Wireless USB into a consumer offering. When selecting a Wireless USB solution, consumers should be wary of uncertified solutions that may not communicate with each other. With our Wireless USB Hub & Adapter Kit, customers can rest assured they are purchasing a product that is tested and guaranteed to work with other certified solutions on the market."

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
