INTEL Ready for New Price Cuts

INTEL has told its official partners that it plans another series of price cuts which is aimed at its "sworn enemy", AMD and its CPUs. That may prove to be a future disaster for AMD since INTEL has already dropped quite a lot of dollars off its CPUs and ultimately forced the competition to do
the same. And all this comes at a time when AMD is a little short on CPUs. Hooray for INTEL!

I guess that INTEL prepares to drop off the Netburst line because that's actually the only logical reason behind such price cuts with some of the CPUs being priced at half the price they had before. 651 ($163/$84), 650 ($273/$84), 641 ($163/$74), 640 ($218/$74), 631 ($163/$69) and 630 ($178/$69) will be the first to feel the price cuts with 541 ($84/$74) and 531($74/$69) to follow. As you can see, INTEL will use all strategies possible in order to hit AMD. On one hand, you have Core architecture which is priced a little higher than AMD's counterparts but it also performs a lot better. Aside from that, Netburst is still a decent CPU especially at such a price, making it a healthy alternative to the Sempron line if the price will drop as expected.

Future INTEL roadmaps also include new CPUs with prices worthy of the value market. First, another 2 Core CPUs will emerge, then an E5300 and the E4300, both of them being priced lower than $160. They will probably use FSB 800 but that's not going to be a problem, especially for overclockers. 2007 will feature X38/G35 chipsets which are meant to use DDR3 chips, providing a new performance leap.
