IMDb Buzz, New Entertainment App for iOS Customers

IMDb has launched a brand new iPhone app called IMDb Buzz. It’s a free entertainment news application that works with all iDevices and offers daily updates about your favorite celebrities, movies, TV shows and news sources.

The app lets you create a news feed tailored to match your interests, and you can share your favorites via Facebook, Twitter, email and even SMS, right from within the IMDb Buzz interface.

Commenting on their new release, Col Needham, founder and CEO of IMDb, said, “We are laser focused on building an unrivaled portfolio of leading entertainment apps.

“In the last month alone, we’ve launched IMDb Buzz (an entertainment news app) and IMDb Trivia (our first foray into games). In both cases, we built a dedicated, platform-optimized app focused on features that IMDb’s more than 110 million monthly unique visitors worldwide spend the most time consuming on our site: entertainment news and trivia respectively,” added Needham.

IMDb also updated its popular Movies & TV app for iPhone and iPod touch to optimize it for the new iOS 5.

The app now includes a “Trailer Queue” and offers the ability to share links to titles, names and photos on various social networks.

AirPlay with mirroring is also supported now, enabling owners of an iPad to watch their favorite trailers on Apple TV.

In related news, IMDb’s Trivia app, also a free download in the iTunes App Store, has been installed by more than 500,000 users worldwide who have played more than 60 million trivia questions. IMDb Trivia is currently ranked #1 on iTunes in the free trivia games category.
