Dovecot 2.2.13, an open source IMAP and POP3 email server for Linux/UNIX-like systems, written primarily with security in mind, has been released and is now available for download.

Dovecot comes with a very efficient authentication system and supports migrations from other IMAP and POP3 servers, and the latest version, 2.2.13, comes with a number of important changes.

“A DoS attack against imap/pop3-login processes has been fixed. If SSL/TLS handshake was started but wasn't finished, the login process attempted to eventually forcibly disconnect the client, but failed to do it correctly. This could have left the connections hanging around for a long time,” reads the announcement.

Also, a mdbox_purge_preserve_alt setting has been added to keep the file within the storage during a purge, support has been added for parsing attachments via Apache Tika, the pop3 server is no longer crashing with some settings, various fixes and improvements have been implemented for handling compressed mails, a crash that occurred on search when the index contained duplicate entries has been fixed, and lots of fixes and performance improvements have been implemented to dsync and replication.

Check out the changelog for a complete list of fixes. You can download Dovecot 2.2.13 right now from the official website.
