The popular IM+ for Windows 8 application has just received an update, with the new version now available in the Windows Store at absolutely no cost.

The freeware build of the instant messaging solution supports all major IM protocols, including WLM, Facebook, Skype chat, Jabber, Yahoo, Yandex and Google Talk, obviously all accessible straight from the Modern UI of your Windows 8 device.

While the developer only mentioned that the new version came with bug fixes and several improvements, IM+ remains one of the best IM clients in the Store, even though the premium edition promises to offer a lot more than.

The app still works on all Windows 8 units, including x86, x64 and ARM devices, so Surface RT users and owners of other Windows RT tablets are also allowed to deploy it.
