IM+ is undoubtedly an essential app for Windows 8 users who want to chat with friends from the Modern UI, so the app is now installed on quite a lot of devices running Microsoft’s latest OS.

An update released today brings plenty of improvements, including the ability to receive files in Yahoo and Jabber. Skype support for the file transfer feature will be implemented very soon, developers promise.

In addition, IM+ can now send ZIP archives, while also allowing Skype users to log in with their Microsoft accounts. New background themes are also part of the package, the release notes reveal.

Last but not least, IM+ can synchronize data across all Windows 8 devices, so you can easily access settings and logs on tablets, PCs, or smartphones.
