One of the apps/services that many Android users out there have been waiting for on their devices is IFTTT (If This, Then That), which is now finally available for download.

For those out of the loop, we should note that IFTTT is a web service that allows users to easily tie together various social platforms out there.

IFTTT calls these connections recipes and allows users to connect a wide variety of platforms – which are called channels –, including some of the most popular social networks out there.

“Put the internet to work for you. IFTTT lets you create powerful connections with one simple statement — if this then that. Activate your Channels and create Recipes on IFTTT,” the application’s description reads.

For example, users can tweet a blog post using a recipe created by IFTTT, which will then be connected to other channels, as rootzwiki notes.

Some of the channels that the service takes advantage of are Facebook, Gmail, Twitter, and others. Moreover, devices such as Philips Hue, Belkin WeMo, and UP by Jawbone are also considered channels.

“Recipes are connections between your Channels that unlock entirely new ways for your services and devices to communicate with each other,” the team explains.

IFTTT for Android has been in beta testing for quite some time now, but its developers have finally managed to get all things up and running for a public release.

The service is expected to open a completely new world for Android users, providing them with the possibility to take advantage of their devices in ways they did not believe were possible before.

Not to mention that the service takes advantage of a great deal of popular channels, including Evernote, Dropbox, Instagram, and others, in addition to the aforementioned ones.

Thus, users will be able to easily tie these services and social networking destinations on their Android devices, so as to receive a brand-new experience.

According to the development team, new features will be arriving in the application in the not-too-distant future, so as to further expand its capabilities.

In fact, the app received its first update during the first day of availability, which added support for more devices than before, along with a variety of bug fixes.

At the moment, IFTTT is available on Android as version 1.0.2 and should be compatible with all devices running under Android 4.0 and newer. It weighs only 4.4MB.
