In a few days we’re going to be in Berlin at the IFA trade show, one of the biggest tech events of the year, scouting for new, exciting devices and reporting back to you.

But as we wait on that, we thought we reminded on the upcoming highlights of this year’s event in terms of tablets. In an earlier piece, we also took the opportunity to make a roundup of the smartwatches that will be presented at the event.

Samsung

Samsung’s presence at the IFA 2014 show will revolve around unleashing the new Galaxy Note 4 and its latest smartwatch. But that doesn't mean we won’t see any tablets on display, coming from the company.

For example, the Korean tech giant will be surely showcasing its latest AMOLED tablet duo – the Galaxy Tab S (check out the newest promo for the devices).

On the other hand, the device maker might surprise us and show us a new 2-in-1 hybrid concept, one that comes with a spine-like system that connects the display part to the keyboard. We don’t know whether the machine will run Android or Windows, but if we’re lucky, we will find out in a few days.

ASUS

ASUS hasn’t cooked up anything new in terms of tablets, either. However, we will most likely see the newest version of the ASUS Transformer Pad TF303 that has an FHD display and is rumored to hit Europe later this month.

The company has been rumored to be working on a big Transformer Pad coming with a 14.2-inch display, so who knows maybe we’ll be granted the possibility of taking a sneak peek at it too.

From the company’s current lineup, we’re surely see ASUS put on display some of its newest MeMO Pad 7 and MeMO Pad 8 taking advantage of the new Intel Moorefield platform.

Sony

The Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is among the few rumored devices here that is a thing of certainty. The device has been spotted in an image on the company’s official website alongside Sony’s new Android Wear smartwatch.

The slate should arrive with an 8-inch IPS display (1920 x 1080 res) and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz fitted with 3GB of RAM.

Customers will also find 8GB of internal storage, microSD card, LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 and an 8MP main snapper with a Sony Exmore RS sensor inside.

Acer

Earlier today, we talked about the Acer Iconia B-810 tablet, which will apparently arrive with an 8-inch display (1280 x 800 pixels), Bay Trail quad core processor and the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box.

The company might also present the new A-841 which should arrive with 8-inch IPS displays with 1280 x 800 pixel res, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD), N-Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE plus GPS.

But unlike the tab outlined above, this one will rely on a MediaTek MT8389 SoC with four cores clocked at 1.7GHz.

Last but not least, Acer seems to be working on the new Aspire Switch model, one that will arrive with an 11.6-inch display but the same traditional 1366 x 768 pixel resolution.

As for the computing department, Acer will offer a choice between an Intel Atom Z3745 quad-core Bay Trail processor clocked at 1.8GHz with 2GB of RAM or an Intel Core i3-4021Y chip fitted with 4GB of RAM.

Lenovo

One device manufacturer we expect to see good things from is Lenovo. Just today we detailed the upcoming IdeaTab S8, which will apparently arrive with 8-inch HD display, Intel Bay Trail processor and run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

On top of that, Lenovo might put on display the ThinkPad Helix 2, as the device has already been spotted online. We don’t know what its specs will be just yet, but the device will apparently be offered with a standard keyboard or keyboard pro powerbase that adds an external enclosure for housing a smart stylus.

You should also watch out for new ThinkPad Yoga convertibles with 12-inch, 14-inch and 15-inch screens and a huge Yoga Tablet 2 Pro with a 13.3-inch screen.

Last but not least, we expect Lenovo to update its popular Yoga Android tablet lineup in both 8-inch and 10-inch flavors.

Huawei

Huawei was a big tablet presence at MWC 2014 where it launched a few. Since then the device maker was pretty silent in terms of slates.

Until recently, when it rolled out the MediaPad T1 8.0 budget-friendly device. The slate arrives with an 8-inch IPS LCD display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and has an Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor clocked at 1.2GHz at its core.

Sadly, the device runs the outdated Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box and we have no knowledge regarding whether the company plans to offer an update to KitKat. Even so, expect to see the tablet on display at IFA.
