The 8-inch tablet is powered by Windows 8.1 and Intel Atom chipset

Toshiba has just announced its new 8-inch Encore tablet powered by Microsoft’s Windows 8.1 platform. The slate has been confirmed to hit shelves in Europe in Q4 2013 for €250 ($330).

Toshiba Encore will be equipped with an Intel Atom chipset featuring the latest Bay Trail architecture, along with Intel Gen 7 graphics. It will also come packed with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD memory card.

The tablet sports a 2-megapixel Skype-certified front-facing camera and will ship with Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 pre-installed.

Other highlights of the Windows-based tablet include dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth, as well as 8-megapixel rear-facing photo snapper and 8-inch AutoBrite LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 1280 x 800 pixels resolution.
