Sony Mobile’s long rumored Xperia Z1 smartphone has finally become official during a press event that the Japanese company held in Berlin at the IFA 2013 trade fair.

The smartphone proved right from the beginning to be exactly what it was rumored to be: a lighter, more powerful version of the Xperia Z flagship device.

Xperia Z1 comes with a 5-inch full HD touchscreen display, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor packed inside, 2GB of RAM, and a water-proof and dust-proof design.

Furthermore, the new mobile phone packs a 20.7-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with G Lens technology and support for 4K video recording, a front camera for video calling, and Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system loaded on top.

The smartphone is set to arrive on shelves later this month with a series of innovative features pre-loaded right from the start, including Info Eye, Timeshift burst, and PlayMemories (a cloud storage and sharing service).
