Sony Mobile has just announced its next Android flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z1. We reported earlier this week on the phone’s specs sheet and it appears that most of the information was accurate.

However, the Japanese company has unveiled a lot more details like some of the software content that will be pre-loaded on the Xperia Z1 and some of the unique features and services that will be available to users.

For example, the 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera features “G Lens” with a 27mm wide angle and bright F2.0 aperture. It also packs custom made large 1/2.3-type CMOS image sensor Exmor RS for mobile and a BIONZ for mobile image processing engine.

With the Social live app, users will be able to broadcast every scene directly from the phone’s camera on Facebook, so friends can watch it live or later on.

There’s also a special mode called TimeShift Burst that will allow users to take 61 images in only 2 seconds. The AR Effect is another cool feature that lets users capture images with fun AR characters and effects.

Sony has also announced the availability of a new service called PlayMemories Online, which takes all pictures on a phone and stores them in a single cloud-based database with unlimited storage. For the time being, the service is only available in Germany, France, UK, US, Canada and Japan.

Sony Xperia Z1 will come with 100 EUR worth of Sony’s service content in some markets and an exclusive movie access pass that will allow users to be among the first people to see the digital release of Sony Pictures summer blockbuster.

Furthermore, the smartphone packs an impressive 5-inch full HD (1080p) display featuring TRILUMINOS and X-Reality for mobile formidable technologies.

Along with the Xperia Z1, Sony has also introduced the Cyber-shot QX10 and QX100 module lenses, which will be available later this month for $250 and $500, respectively.

They can be attached to the Xperia Z or Xperia Z1 via a custom designed bracket and you can immediately start taking pictures. More importantly, users can attach any of the two module lenses to any iOS or Android smartphone with the help of a special adapter.

It will be available for purchase in select markets beginning late September for a price that will be announced closer to launch.
