It's one thing to promise a device and another to actually launch it, as the Sony Smartwatch 2 makes it clear.

The gadget was supposed to come out at some point in July, or so the rumors said. It didn't though. Alas.

In fact, it still isn't out. Though the gadget made it to IFA, it isn't available yet. Instead, it should start shipping this month (September 2013).

The Smartwatch 2 has one-touch NFC (for pairing with a Sony smartphone mostly), an Android-based OS, a pedometer (walking meter), and a battery life of 4 days.

Obviously, Sony hopes the watch will make it to as many buyers of the Xperia Z1 smartphone as possible. Pricing is to be announced.
