Lenovo announced at IFA 2013 the sleek Vibe X smartphone and now the Chinese company has unveiled another Android device, the S500 tablet.

The tablet has been launched to compete with Nexus 7 and iPad mini, though it doesn’t have enough power under the hood. However, Lenovo S5000 could be an interesting choice for those looking to buy a cheap Android tablet.

According to PocketLint, the slate will be available for purchase beginning November for only €200 ($265). We can expect the S5000 to be available in most European countries where Lenovo sells its tablets, as well as in emerging markets.

Lenovo S5000 is extremely light at 246g (battery included) and packs a 7-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 1280 x 800 pixels resolution and 350 nit.

The affordable tablet will ship with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and 3G connectivity (only in select markets). Lenovo has also confirmed that the slate will be packed with a USB port that will allow users to expand storage.

Furthermore, the S5000 is powerful enough to run almost any application or game you can think of thanks to the 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek 8389 processor, which is complemented by 1GB of RAM.

When it comes to storage, Lenovo states that its S5000 slate will feature 16GB of internal memory. Due to the fact the tablet lacks microSD card slot, users will only be able to expand storage via USB port.

It is also worth mentioning that the tablet will come with dual cameras (5-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and video recording, and 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls).

Other highlights of the tablet include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support, microUSB and 3450 mAh Li-Ion battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.
