Amazon may pull in the bulk of news articles about E-Readers, along with E Ink, which actually makes the screen technology for them, but they are by no means the only makers of E-Readers.

Kobo has actually been gathering a following of its own lately. The ensuing rise in reputation prompted, and enabled it to rent a booth at IFA 2013, here in Berlin, Germany.

Its new device (still unavailable in most areas, but set to debut this or next month) is the Kobo Aura, an e-book reader with a 6-inch 1014 x 758, 16 level grey scale, bright Pearl e-paper display, 4 Gb internal storage (32 GB more via microSD card), Wi Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Micro USB and 1 GHz CPU.

We have tested the device and have found the page change speed to be pretty decent, and the edge-to-edge display provides a good view. A good chunk of text fits on the screen even with liberal use of the font enlarging option.

Needless to say, Kobo pre-loads its proprietary OS and several extras on every device. You'll find all the info, dry and otherwise, here.

Note: Sebastian Pop and fellow editor Ionut Arghire are on the floor at IFA 2013 and are bringing you pictures and live reports on the latest products and previews. Find them all here.
