We have reported earlier this week that Alcatel will release two mid-range Android smartphones later this year, the One Touch Idol S and Idol Mini.

With just a few days left until IFA 2013 trade fair opens its gates, Alcatel has announced its new flagship Android handset, the One Touch HERO.

Alcatel One Touch HERO is a beast and comes packed with a huge 6-inch full HD IPS capacitive touchscreen display, as well as a powerful 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, which is complemented by 2GB of RAM.

On the back, the high-tier smartphone boasts an impressive 13-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. There’s also a secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls and self-portraits.

The HERO has been confirmed to arrive with a high-capacity 3400 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer. Furthermore, the handset packs either 8GB or 16GB of internal memory, but users will be able to expand storage up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

Software-wise, Alcatel One Touch HERO will ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, as well as several interesting accessories that must be paid separately.

Much like Samsung’s Note smartphones, the HERO comes with a stylus, which turns the phone into “a creative enterprise tool letting you annotate, create memos and professional sketches. It is loaded with apps that fully utilize hand writing recognition, which enables desktop like functionality to create and edit office documents on the go.”

There’s also a small Bluetooth phone accessory that allows users to receive SMS, calendar entries, voice calls, sync phonebook without removing the phone from the pocket.

An inductive wireless charger allows users to charge their phone quickly by flipping the cover and placing it on the charger.

Speaking of which, the One Touch HERO comes with a MagicFlip, which notifies users of everything the smartphone does via the cover with the embedded LED.

Last but not least, Alcatel offers those who purchase the One Touch HERO the option to buy a small Pico Projector, which also doubles as stand.

According to Alcatel, the One Touch HERO will be available for purchase in select markets beginning October for a “high-end” price that has yet to be revealed.
