We landed an invitation to Huawei’s pre-IFA product launch event, so we can definitely say that there are some really nice products on the way from this up and coming brand.

The MediaPad 10 FHD 10.1-inch tablet is one of the items that the company hopes to use in its attempt to become recognized as a brand.

Huawei has been acting as an ODM for other IT players for years, but now it wishes to get into the consumer electronics game under its own power.

Granted, its smartphones, and the Emotion UI, will probably be the ones that will make most of the difference, but we’ll talk about those separately, and we’ll have some hands-on photos of them too.

Here, though, we are going to focus on the ARM-powered Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich tablet.

Before you ask, yes, Huawei does have every intention of launching a Windows 8 product line, but the details are still hush-hush on that.

On the same note, yes, Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) will be delivered as an over-the-air update to the MediaPad 10 FHD in the near future.

That said, the slate is powered by the quad-core 1.2 GHz HiSilicon K3V2 CPU. The cores are ARM Cortex A9 designed on the 40 nm manufacturing process. Huawei claims that it runs 30 to 50% better than NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 in benchmarks, and we suppose it is quite possible, given the 64-bit memory bus.

Speaking of which, the MediaPad 10 FHD features 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of built-in NAND Flash storage space. A bit steep, but potentially offset by the better processor performance.

Other specs include Wi-Fi, two cameras (1 MP front, 8 MP back) and an LCD with 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution (226 PPI).

All the hardware, along with a mighty 6600 mAh battery, is packed inside an 8.8 mm-thick frame and weighs 598 grams in total. Sales will begin in October, for 450 Euro / $450-499.
