If you thought that the super slim Xperia arc smartphone that went official about nine months ago at CES was the best that Sony Ericsson had to offer for this year, you could not be more wrong.

The newly unveiled Xperia arc S, none other than the successor of that Xperia arc device that debuted in early January, has some more features and capabilities to offer, starting with the faster application processor inside, and going all the way to the enhanced software that Sony Ericsson loaded on it.

The new Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S was among the first smartphones to be unveiled at this year's IFA show in Berlin, and Softpedia spent a couple of minutes in its company, just to enable you to admire it in a series of live photos.

Just as expected, the new device has a lot to offer, including great performance capabilities courtesy of its 1.4GHz application processor, as well as a great viewing experience on the go due to the large 4.2-inch touchscreen display (854 x 480 pixels -FWVGA) it boasts.

Users can carry around a great amount of photos, videos, music or other files with this device, since it sports 320MB of internal memory, as well as a microSD memory card slot that can support cards of up to 32GB (an 8GB microSD memory card comes in the package).

Running under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the new device features support for “Music Unlimited” and “Video Unlimited” services from Sony, access to the Android Market and other services from Google, as well as great social networking features.

Sony Ericsson loaded it with the new Facebook inside Xperia 2.0 application, which brings the networking site straight to the phone's screen at all times.

Xperia arc S will prove a great companion when it comes to saving great memories on video, courtesy of its 8.1 megapixel camera that offers LED Flash and HD video recording (720p).

This phone's multimedia capabilities include Sony Ericsson Music Player, TrackID music recognition, Video streaming, Radio FM radio with RDS, and more.

All these are complemented by great looks, and a variety of color versions that Sony Ericsson announced the new Xperia arc S with, such as Pure White, Midnight Blue, Misty Silver, Gloss Black, and Sakura Pink.
