Like so many other companies, Philips did not miss the chance to attend the 2011 edition of the IFA trade show in Berlin, Germany, having created, among other things, a pair of high-end TV lines.

There are many ways circumstances under which companies may come forward and release some new product or other.

Granted, in most cases, a press release is the complete method, while some product simply get added to their maker's portfolios without any media coverage.

Then there are those occasions when a special event or other is held, one that an entire crowd from around the world attends.

The IFA 2011 trade show in Berlin, Germany, easily qualifies as this sort of event, so, naturally, Philips attended.

Among other things, it prepared two Smart LED TV product lines, dubbed the Platinum Series and Gold Series.

Both are of the 21:9 variety and boast the 3D Max technology, which lowers crosstalk and ensures maximum viewing angles (180 degrees).

Philips says that the displays have a processing speed of two billion pixels per second, in addition to the 3D max's transmitter ability to connect to multiple pairs of 3D glasses, should more that one person gaze upon the screen at the same time.

Needless to say, both lines have support for the Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) native resolution.

Other assets include a 400 Hz Perfect Motion Rate (PMR), the obvious power consumption benefits granted by LED backlighting, the ability to surf the Internet and watch TV at the same time (with multi-view) and the ability to control the product with a smartphone, tablet or keyboard.

Finally, buyers will be able to browse through a myriad of online apps, and and video rental services, further expanding the versatility of the Gold and Platinum.

The Gold Series has a diagonal of 50 inches, while the Platinum takes things higher, to 58 inches. Unfortunately, pricing and availability details are not available.
