HTC Radar, the latest Windows Phone handset from Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has already made an appearance in the world at the IFA 2011 show in Berlin, and Softpedia got the chance to play with the new device a little, and came up with a series of photos available now for your viewing pleasure.

Expected to arrive on shelves as a more or less affordable device, the HTC Radar was spotted at large before under the name of Omega, and should arrive on shelves in Europe and Asia sometime in October.

The smartphone packs a 3.8-inch touchscreen display, capable of delivering a 480 x 800 pixel resolution, and hides a 1 GHz application processor beneath it, complemented by 512 MB of RAM.

The phone's specifications list also includes 8 GB of internal memory, as well as a 5 megapixel camera on the back, with F2.2 lens, LED flash, BSI sensor and 720p HD video recording, and a VGA front camera to enable video calling.

Radar, the same as the other new Windows Phone Mango handset from HTC, TITAN, adds the front-facing camera into the mix, which suggests that it might not be too long before Microsoft will bring Skype to its mobile platform.

While this new feature is a greatly welcomed one, it comes rather as a surprise that HTC does not mention the inclusion of a microSD memory card slot as means of expanding the internal memory of its new devices, a feature that lacked in the previous Windows Phones as well.

WiFi IEEE 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity options were included with this device as well, along with HSPA 14.4 Mbps / 5.76 Mbps capabilities, GPS antenna with support for Bing Maps, and more.

HTC Radar was unveiled to the world with a 3.5 mm stereo audio jack too, as well as with G-Sensor, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, 5.1 surround sound for video, and more.

It also sports a series of features that are specific to Microsoft's Windows Phone Mango platform, namely Pictures hub with the possibility to view photos from the camera, Facebook and Windows Live accounts, Music and Videos Hub powered by Zune, as well as Facebook and Windows Live SkyDrive sharing.
