The BlackBerry Torch 9810 smartphone was unveiled roughly a month ago as the successor of last year's fairly popular Torch 9800, the very first device from Research In Motion to arrive on shelves with a sliding design while packing both a touchscreen display and a QWERTY keyboard.

Apparently, RIM considered the one-year old slider a success, and decided to come up with a successor for it, none other than the BlackBerry Torch 9810 that Softpedia met at the IFA 2011 show in Berlin.

The new mobile phone keeps the same form factor as the predecessor, but also adds a series of enhancements into the mix, starting with the faster 1.2GHz application processor, and going all the way to the new BlackBerry 7 OS loaded on it.

The new device boasts a 3.2 inches touchscreen display capable of delivering a 480 x 640 pixels resolution, and pairs the said fast CPU with 768 MB of RAM to deliver increased performance levels.

Those who will purchase the new mobile phone will also enjoy 8GB of internal memory, which can be easily expanded through the addition of memory cards of up to 32GB in size.

The BlackBerry Torch 9810 features HSDPA 14.4Mbps and HSUPA connectivity options, as well as WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 capabilities, and a microUSB port, not to mention that it was packed with built-in GPS receiver too, and with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Other than that, we can count the 5-megapixel photo snapper that is present on the handset's back, which offers auto focus, LED flash, and support for video recording.

Measuring 111 x 61.9 x 14.5 mm and weighing it at 161 grams, the new smartphone includes a Li-Ion 1300 mAh battery inside, which can deliver up to 6 hours and a half of talk time, or up to 300 hours of standby time.

The new slider runs under the BlackBerry 7 OS, and offers fast Internet navigation, access to social networking websites, access to applications and games available for download via the BlackBerry App World, along with support for various services that RIM put in place for its users.
