Business customers that upgrade to Internet Explorer 9 will be able to take advantage of a set of new group policy settings to manage users. At the bottom of this article I included a list with all the new IE9 Group Policy settings provided by Microsoft.

IT professionals can start leveraging the new settings immediately after the deployment of IE9 is completed.

The additional GP settings are introduced via an administrative template (ADMX file) concomitantly with the installation of IE9, the software giant explained on TechNet.

“Internet Explorer supports numerous Group Policy settings. These allow you to manage the browser and how users use it,” the software giant said.

“This can be critical for keeping your network secure. Internet Explorer 9 adds new options that further enhance security and allow you to enforce policies for new features. (Besides security, some of these settings can streamline the interface and improve compatibility.)”

Microsoft released IE9 to web in mid-March 2011, and subsequently also started the automatic delivery of the browser through Windows Update.

At MIX11 the company also began offering the first Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview Build for early adopters.

Here are the new IE9 RTW Group Policy settings:

“- Automatically enable newly installed add-ons

- Disable add-on performance notifications

- Turn off Managing SmartScreen Filter for Internet Explorer 9

- Prevent users from bypassing SmartScreen Filter's application reputation warnings about files that are not commonly downloaded from the Internet

- Turn on ActiveX filtering

- Prevent configuration of top result search in the Address bar

- Turn off Tracking Protection

- Tracking Protection threshold

- Show tabs on a separate row
