The smackdown between Internet Explorer, Opera and Firefox has advanced to a new stage with the versions 7, 9.1 and 2.0 of the browsers. Just as it is the case with the operating systems, browser
products are also compared in a variety of aspects, from security to customization to the options each application delivers.

Well, in addition to all of this, there is also users perception and preferences. And you get to have a say in the browser war between Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 2.0 and Opera 9.1. if you just head over here and cast your vote.

At the time of this article, Firefox 2.0 was in the lead with 20,280 votes, Internet Explorer 7.0 was runner up with 10,930 votes while Opera was last with just 4,750 votes. In all fairness, the website does not specify the exact version of the browsers that are up for voting. However, if you were to take a look at the user comments, you will notice that the latest versions are the ones that get the attention.

Currently, Internet Explorer accounts for over 79% of the browser market. But Microsoft's browser has seen its market share slowly eroded by the increasing adoption of Mozilla Firefox. The open source browser from Mozilla has increased its hold on the market with an estimated 14% share. Opera however is quite a way back, not managing to surpass the 1% milestone.

According to data made available by Market Share by Net Applications Internet Explorer 7 has over 29% of the browser market, Firefox 2.0 has grown to almost 8% and Opera 9.x is accounting for a share of 0.65%.
